Hippodrome Art Gallery Exhibit, March 19 – 28 & ArtWalk, March 26

The Hippodrome Gallery features special exhibits of environmentally themed art during
the Festival week. Don’t miss the eco-focus of exhibits at many downtown art venues during
ArtWalk, 7 – 10 pm on Friday, March 26.

This show curated by Lorelei Esser and Chris Fillie.

Lorelei Esser: I call my work a display of the sustainable spirit.  It is built entirely of found objects.

Celino Dimitroff- Post-Industrial Highlights: Found object lighted sculpture. “I hope to make an impact with my art by demonstrating that before we fill our landfills with needless material good, maybe we should look at it in a different light.”

Chris Fillie- Minimalist/Raw expression of the intersection of history, emotion, and the “perennial philosophy” of our wisdom traditions against the backdrop of modernity: Found object figurative sculpture. “Waste is a mental construct, the product of the unexamined life and the compartmentalized mind”

Nicholas Iannelli- Prairie Landscapes: Oils on coffee sacks/found wood with found wood frames. “The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner stone.” (Psalms 118:20) “I did the best I could with what nature gave me” (Thomas Jefferson)
